Course Information

Public Health refers to general public healthcare access both nationally and internationally. Individuals working in health care sector, from doctors to managers, administrators to educators are motivated by engaging and rewarding character of their work and pursue towards providing equal and better access to healthcare.

 A global multidisciplinary approach to public health offered in this programme is based on collaborative work where public health issues are being discussed and experiences shared. Key topics of this programme will include principles and practice within a global context, as well as methodologies and approaches from an ethical, social and economic standpoint. This programme will equip you with skills allowing critical appraisal of health and social systems complexities, evaluation of opinions and solutions and strategy development.

This programme offers you a selection of specializations, which you wish to explore more profoundly as well as optional modules allowing following one of specialist pathways in Management of Health Systems and International Public Health.  

This programme offers alternative awards, meaning you may opt for either a full Masters degree, or finish up with either Post Graduate Diploma or Post Graduate Certificate.

Learning format

This programme consists of the listed modules, followed by dissertation. In order to earn a full Master of Public Health (MPH) you are required to complete 180 credits, 120 credits to earn the postgraduate diploma (PGDip) and 60 credits to earn the postgraduate certificate (PGCert).*

  • Integrated Research in Public Health: Epidemiology and Qualitative Methods (20 credits)
  • Leading and Managing Health Systems (10 credits)
  • Monitoring and Evaluation of Systems and Programmes (10 credits)
  • Health Inequalities: Integrating Public Health Practice (10 credits)
  • Core module (one from): 
    • Applied Epidemiological Research for Public Health; or (15 credits)
    • Applied Qualitative Research for Public Health (15 credits)
  • Optional modules (two from): 
    • Health Protection (10 credits)
    • Preventing and Managing Communicable Diseases (10 credits)
    • Managing Crises and Disasters (10 credits)
    • Programme and Policy Challenges in Low Income Countries (10 credits)§
    • Health, Economics and Governance (10 credits)
  • Dissertation (60 credits)

Entry requirements

In order to qualify for the programme an applicant can needs to present an academic degree and relevant work experience of about 3-4 years. In case of lack of academic degree, a minimum of 6- 8 years of relevant work experience is enough to apply.

Additionally, all applicants should be proficient in English language.
